2025 Boston Celtics Preseason Preview
The Celtics won a lot last year. They won 64 regular season games and 16 post seasons games. That’s (tied for) the most postseason games any team has ever won.
What else is there to say aside from Boston is looking to repeat? The tandem of Tatum and Brown are just entering their prime. Jrue Holiday, since moving over from the Bucks, is being asked to take on less of the scoring which lets him focus on being the elite defensive presence that he is. Derrick White is looking like he could challenge Holiday as the best defensive gaurd on this team. Kristaps Porziņģis showed in the playoffs that the injury he sustained didn’t really slow him down.
The only real question for Boston is when do they start thinking about life after Horford, but even the 38 year old big man didn’t really show signs of slowing down - playing in 65 games and putting up the 11th best 3pt percentage of any player attempting 4 or more per game.
This will feel like the same Boston Celetics team from last year, because it mostly is. The only new face on the active roster is 30th overall draft pick Baylor Scheierman who joins the Celtics after 5 years split between South Dakota State and Creighton. Scheierman is a day short of being exactly two years older than his fourth year teammate Jaden Springer.
