2025 Sacramento Kings Preseason Preview
The Sacramento Kings finished the 2023-24 season with a record of 46 wins and 36 loses on the way to being eliminated in the Western Conference play in tournament. The big story surrounding the Kings this season will be the addition of DeMar DeRozen who joins Sacramento after 3 years in Chicago.
DeRozen, who played the most minutes per game in the NBA last season will join iron man Domantas Sabonis and 8th year point guard De’Aaron Fox as they look to rebound from what needs to be considered a fairly disappointing 2023-24 season. The Kings finished the 3rd in the West during the previous season and looked to build on the success their young core found before slipping to 9th in a very competitive western conference.
The addition of DeRozen isn’t the only way the Kings hopes to improve this year. They’ll look to Kevin Hueter to return to his previous form after he shot a career low .361 from three and 3rd year Keegan Murray to return to the efficiency with which he scored his rookie year before regressing on his expanded role during his sophomore season. If Sacremento can get their shooting dialed in they could prove to have a lethal offense.
The Kings should be able to focus on improving without distractions this year, as their core is under contract through this year. Fox, Hueter, and Murray all become extension eligible next season, and it will be of note to see how they embrace their respective roles as they all look to prove themselves worthy of a new contract.
